our story

Hello! I’m Cate Chapman, owner of Kaleidoscope Custards. During my time in culinary school, I had three different courses that included custard recipes for lab assignments. In each of those labs, I heard several nearby students say how much they loved custard. That’s when it dawned on me that so many of us love custards and what we need is a place where we can consistently find them.

When I was a kid, I would bake chocolate chip cookies and Mississippi Mud Cake for my family. It made me so happy to see them happy and enjoying what I made. Over the years, I’ve enjoyed learning about the science of baking to get consistently great results. With the support and encouragement of my partner, Ronnie, I pursued formal training at the Culinary Institute of the Carolinas.  It was one of the best experiences of my life and prepared me to fulfill my mission: To bring cool, creamy, sweet comfort and joy to Upstate South Carolina.
